Multiple RE505X as wired APs, randomly flooding traffic and cause network outage
Hi all, been going through alot in my setup pattern and it's got to the point I decided to write a post here
Just setting up a wifi infrastructure for an area where there's probably alot of guests (the number of actual users are around 20-30). Instead of buying business-grade APs I purchased 4x RE505x extenders and set them up as wired APs, all 4 of them plugged into the main AP which is an Archer AX80 (also in AP mode) and it's WAN port goes to my pfsense firewall. (I assume there's nothing wrong with my firewall)
Things were going smoothly for several hours, but then, randomly, all of sudden, all traffic going through those RE505x went down, and the AX80 barely got any leftover bandwidth.
I attempted to ping the 4 RE505x, and got almost no response (90-100% packet loss). I tried so hard and barely dived into the AX80's web configurator just to see it's CPU is overloading at 99% (normally when traffic is operational it should be under 10%)
I tried replacing the AX80 with a normal TL-SG105e switch with all of it's available features (storm control, ...) engaged, but this won't fix the problem, the 4x RE505x will again took the traffic down by overwhelming it, which made all 5 lights on the switch constantly flashing like crazy
The problem will be temporary fixed by unplug all 4 of their ethernet cable and plug them back in all at once, but for several hours, the problem will still randomly come back
Been through many months attempting to troubleshoot this problem, verified there's no loop in my pattern, re-upload the firmware for all 4x RE505x, giving different SSID for 2.4 and 5GHz bands, different SSIDs for 4 of them, disable 802.11ax, and sometimes completely disable the 5GHz band to try reducing load, but despite all those efforts/attempts I'm getting no better result and I'm suspecting there's currently a serious AP-mode bug in the RE505x v2's firmware which caused them to flood the traffic. (I just don't wanna replace new APs since the RE505x is already so expensive)
Any thoughts? (I'd love to hear what's wrong with it or what's wrong with my setup pattern)
