Hardware Version: V7
Firmware Version: 7

Hello,

I have just updated the router firmware version to the latest.

Aftter that I updated my ESET Antivirus product and run a scan.

It detected the TP-link router opened port 23.

I check the admin wemsconsole and only find one option where I could disable TELNET, but the system didn't let to save this record.

Other than that, no record about port 23 or TELNET, there are no rules in port forwarding or in other services.

From my pc I can telnet to the router, but it ask for a password, which I don't know.

My network look like this:

INTERNET <- - - - - - - > Tp-link router <-------------> Desktop PC

<- - - - - -> = wireless connection

<----------> = wired connection

There is no ISP router in my network.

My questons are:

- Why is port 23 open?

- How could I close it?

Thank you!

  @0018andrew

Hi, thanks for posting question and feedback here.

Please do not worry, this will not affect the normal usage and network safety.

To avoid unnecessary worries, the port for Telnet Service will be turned off by default in the future firmware iteration.

Thank you and best regards.
