Model: Deco XE75 Pro
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I am about to buy the Deco XE75 Pro.

We have just had full fibre to the property installed and I intend to connect the Deco directly into the Openreach box on my study wall with an ethernet cable (I hope I am right that I can do that)

Reading the manual online for the XE 75, it refers to setting up the wifi network and separately to setting up the 6Ghz wifi network.

Is it recommended to give those the same SSID and password or different ones ?

If the answer is "different", when I subsequently make a device (e.g. iPad) join the network, which network should I tell it to join ?

And why ?

(I have to date had a Linksys tri-band mesh connected to a Virgin hub - this worked well; it had only one SSID and devices moved seamlessly from node to node as the devices were moved around the house. This is an experience which I would want to replicate)

Thank you very much for your advice

Hi, Welcome to the community.

You could try to set the same SSID for 2.4/5/6GHz. On the Deco APP, it will display the currently connected wifi band on the iPad.

Deco XE75 Pro also supports setting preferred WiFi band through Deco APP:

How to select a preferred signal source on the Deco App

Thank you and best regards.

  @David-TP

Thank you - that is very helpful

Do you know whether I am right that I can plug the XE75 right into the Openreach wall box ?

The reason I am a bit confused about this is that the XE75 User Guide does not show a screen where I tell the device which ISP I am with plus the user name and password for that ISP

Again thank you

Yes you can connect the main Deco directly to the Openreach ONT via ethenet cable, connection type will be PPPoE and username to use is

"bthomehub@btbroadband.com" and password is "BT".

BT Full fibre 500, 1x X60 V3.2 in router mode and 1 x XE75Pro V2.

  @klipse

Thank you for the PppoE tip

We are not actually with BT. Our ISP (Zen) gave us a user name and password when we first signed up so I am hoping that those will work
