Hello,

 

I am currently using Deco M9 Plus in a mesh setup and plan to upgrade my set up in the new home with the Deco X50-PoE.

 

Connectivity will be using CAT6 Cables as LoS is not available between some of the access points (end points)

 

Will the following setup work seamlessly?

 

1. Use TP-Link Next-Gen Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 as the main router which will get connected to the ISP Router

2. Use a mix of  Deco M9 Plus and Deco X50-PoE to create the mesh network in the house (ground + 2 floors)

3. Will provide power connection wherever M9 will be used

 

If yes, then I can re-use the 3x Deco M9 Plus devices, else will need to buy 6x of Deco X-50

 

Hoping to get some quick feedback/suggestions as I need to decide quickly abt the installation points.

Hi, Thank you very much for your time and patience.

The "Option 1" works and you could connect the ISP Router to a 16 port PoE Switch and then use the ports to connect via CAT6 cables to each of  the Deco units (3 X50 and 3-M9Plus) .

PS: If your haven't decided a POE-switch, it is recommended to use a TP-Link brand switch.

Please remember to set Deco in "Access Point mode".All the Deco units(in AP mode) would still be under a united Mesh system.

It is not necessary to have one Deco unit as the Main AP and then have the rest connect to it only.

Hi, Deco could also be used as a wireless router and I think you don't need an extra TP-Link Next-Gen Wi-Fi 6 AX3000(is it Archer AX50?).

 

Deco M9 plus and Deco X50-POE could be used together to establish the Mesh system.

Can different Deco models work together?

Currently, Deco M9 Plus uses HomeCare while the new Deco X50-POE supports HomeShield security kit.

  Hi @David-TP 

 

Thank you for the response. My reason of using the AX3000 (Archer AX53) is that it's cheaper than a single Deco X50 and I get to use that Deco as another access point. I am not sure if this setup will work.

 

Can I connect the ISP Router to a 16 port PoE Switch and then use the ports to connect via CAT6 cables to each of  the Deco units (3 X50 and 3-M9Plus) ?

Will this form a Mesh? Or is it essential to have one Deco unit as the Main AP and then have the rest connect to it only?

 

Kindly refer to the diagram attached. Which of the Options will work?

Do I need to make amends to any of them?

Appreciate any suggestions and advice.
