Model: Deco BE85
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.18 build 20240409 Rel. 41111

Hi,

sorry for my English (I'm French).

Here is my network setup :

  • 1 beco BE85 behind my fiber modem (as router)
  • 1 dac ( SFP+ to SFP+) between both
  • Connexion ok : Dow: 7 Gb over 8 and up 0,7 Gb over 0,8
  • BE85 as Access Point

2 SSIDs:

  • WifiOne : 2,4/5 Ghz
  • WifiTwo: 6 Ghz

My phone: Poco F6 Pro

When I try to connect to WifiOne: no problem: working fine I can see the Wifi 6 or 7 logo . Download and upload rates are ok: 1,2 Gb / sec

But I can't reach the 6Ghz SSID (WifiTwo). I've tried to remove the password and I can get connected . Download rate: 3,7 Gb / sec so I've reached the 6Ghz network.

When I put back my password : not working

My fireTV get connected with  the password. So I think there is a problem between my phone and the password or the security mode.

When I reach the "advanced" parameters in 2,4/5Ghz SSID , I can see some parameters such as : security (set to WPA2) / Frequency / etc (casual info...)

When I reach the 'advanced" parameters in the 6 Ghz SSID,  I've only two options : Security / Hide the SSID. And what's it really stange: for the level of scurity I've got only two options :

  • WP3
  • DEVOIR => I'm sorry but what does it mean ? Devoir in French means "homework" (maybe a wrong translation in the DECO APP)

Last thing: When I turn on the MLO network It allows also WP3 and "DEVOIR" in security, I can reach the network with my phone but I think it doesn't take the 6Ghz because I'm connected with a bandwitch of 2888 Mbps.

Could you please advice or provide any help to get my phone connected to 6Ghz SSID and give me some info on "DEVOIR" security option ?

PS: sorry I've reach two tickets with the DECO app but we don't get any confirmation in the app or by mail if the ticket has been successfully created

  @Slaybz

Hi, Welcome to the community.

I think the "DEVOIR" here refers to "OWE"(Opportunistic Wireless Encryption), which is a Wi-Fi Enhanced Open authentication mode, as a part of WPA3, which allows for network access without the password.

You can refer to this link to find more details about "OWE".

For the reported issue, would there be any error message when Poco F6 Pro fails to connect to the WiFiTwo-6 Ghz when the security mode is set to WPA3?

Would there be any special characters in the password, such as space, "€"?

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

Many thanks for your answer David.

My password is made with only lettres and figures.

I've juste tried to change it with a différent code from thé 2.4/5ghz . still not connecting.

I've tried another Time without wpa3 so with DEVOIR (.i.e no password) working fine....

see my 3 screenshots: 2,4/5gz , 6ghz and the error when trying to reach the 6ghz . no other error message

Bonus questions:

as connected to 6ghz  network the rate is 5764 Mbps. I was really closed from thé routeur (10cm) , isn't normal ? I was more expecting 11gbs... it looks liké more I'm still on 5ghz isn't ?

and why i can't set the frequencies in the 6ghz settings ?

@Slaybz 5764 Mbps indicates the highest speed your phone will achieve

Just a M4 (2-pack) user who regrets buying it

  @Slaybz

Hi, Thank you very much for the further details.

Are you able to constantly reproduce this issue on the Poco F6 over 6GHz SSID?

By the way, have you tried to set "WPA 3 only" under 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi to see whether Poco F6 had a similar issue?

I might need to escalate your case to the senior engineer later. Please also check whether you have received my email.

By the way,  As the Fire TV also supports 6GHz wifi, is it Amazon Fibre TV 4k Max?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @Slaybz

Hi, Deco BE85 is 4×4 MU-MIMO while PoCo F6 is 2x2 MIMO. So I think its maximum link rate over 6Ghz would be 5764mbps.

And yes I've recieved your mail (but same content as your message in the forum ) so should I have to do something for thé senior engineering team ? You Can connect to my déco if needed

  @Slaybz

Hi, I also found this when I checked the wireless specification of Poco F6. The "8x8 sounding for Mu-MIMO" seems to be a new wireless technology of XiaoMi.

I found some comments mentioning that "8x8 sounding for Mu-MIMO" serves as a detection mechanism. This implies that the mobile phone can detect up to 8 sets of MU-MIMO antennas (spatial streams) simultaneously. Thus, the two groups with the best signals are selected for connection.

However,  there is no official statement for this. It would be better if you could directly ask for further explanation from Xiaomi Poco support.

Thank you very much and best regards.
