Hi; buy a deco system xe75. I already have an existing modem router; I wanted to replace the old orbi system; how do I install deco directly as an access point mode?. It is not possible to configure it as an AP from the app.

Hi, You might need to set it up first as a wireless router, then switch the operation mode to AP mode.

So far, during the configuration process, the Deco APP couldn't set the Deco to Access Point directly.

Best regards.

I have Access Point problem with new XE75 hub. I have upgraded DECO network to use XE75 unit as hub to another XE75 and several P9 devices. The XE75 hub is connected to BT Smarthub via ethernet cable. I want to put the XE75 hub into Access Point mode but when I try and do this I get a 'Failed' message every time and XE75 stays in Router mode. XE75 has latest firmware and Deco App is latest release. BT Smarthub has DCHP Server mode switched on. What is going wrong?

Hi, I think maybe there are too many Deco units in the Mesh system.

Would it help if you temporarily unplug all the satellite P9 and leave the 2*XE75 only, then change the operation mode again?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Thank you this advice, it worked. I disconnected all the Deco units except the 2 x XE75. Access mode switch still failed so I re-booted the main unit (took several attempts) and then when it was back up successfully put it into Access mode. The other XE75 was then flashing red so I re-booted it and it then connected successfully to the main unit. I then sequentially added the other Decos working out from the main unit. All good so far.

@David-TP

More follow up. Having put the main XE75 in Access mode the Deco mesh has now become unstable and will crash several times a day (yesterday I think it was 5 times). Sometimes it successfully re-boots but not always and either the main and/or satellite units need to be manually re-booted. A mesh re-boot is not instantaneous so it is now very fustrating.

I am at a loss and thinking I am best putting the main XE75 back into Router mode depsite it being attached to a router. Before I do this should I put the second XE75 into access mode (not sure this will change anything as some P9 satellites are wirelessly linked to the main XE75 not the secondary).

For information the mesh consists of 2 x XE75 and 6 x P9.

Any suggestions?

@David-TP From another thread I see that when the main Deco (XE75) is set up in Access mode other Decos automatically inherit the same settings so no point in trying to put the 2nd XE75 into access mode as it should already have inherited this set up. I have seen older posts that say Deco Access mode is not very robust but I would have thought that was sorted by now. Any ideas on why it might be crashing so frequently?
