So users might notice Ethernet ports are back on the Gen 3 router!
How to connect Deco with Starlink Gen 3?
1. Connect the main Deco to one of the Ethernet ports of the Gen 3 router.
2. Follow this guide to set up Deco.
Since the default operation mode on Deco is also a wireless router, to avoid of double NAT issue, there are two recommended setups:
- Enable "Bypass Mode" on the Gen 3 router and leave Deco as the only Wi-Fi router
- Please open Starlink APP>Settings>Advanced to enable Bypass mode
(Bypass mode will disable the built-in Starlink WiFi router functionality. A factory reset is required if you want to switch back to router mode. )
- Keep the default settings on the Gen 3 router, then set Deco into Access Point mode.
- Please Follow this guide to change Deco into Access Point mode.
Q&A:
Q: Do I need to delete the current Deco Mesh system and set it up again after switching Starlink Gen 3 from the previous modem?
A: Usually, We don't need to delete the previous Mesh configuration. Please confirm the connection type has been set to Dynamic IP and Deco should be plug-and-plug once Starlink Gen 3 is online.
Q: Can I connect both Decos directly to the Starlink Gen 3 router? Will I have Ethernet Backahul on the Deco?
A: It should work but Deco needs to be set into Access Point mode first.

@Chuck-TP So I ended up acquiring a POE injector to power the Starlink dish and completely removed the Starlink router.. In this configuration the Deco router worked just fine. So, there is some issue between the SL router in Bypass mode and the TP-Link Deco router.

I tried to use bypass with tp-link x50 in router mode. The first 5 minutes it worked, then the devices disconnected. Red lights under all x50s. Do they work or not as routers by putting starlink in bypass mode the x50s... do I need to insert an intermediate router and put the x50s in access point mode?

Hi, it should work when Starlink is in Bypass mode and Deco is in router mode.
When Deco turns red, do you need to restart Starlink or Deco to get the connection back?
Later, if the issue is repeated, it is suggested to save a screenshot of the IPV4 settings under More>Internet and a copy of the web system log; then, you can send them to support.forum@tp-link.com (please add forum ID#675946) with these details for further assistance.
Thanks a lot and best regards.
