How to connect Deco with Starlink Gen 3?

1. Connect the main Deco to one of the Ethernet ports of the Gen 3 router.

2. Follow this guide to set up Deco.

Since the default operation mode on Deco is also a wireless router, to avoid of double NAT issue, there are two recommended setups:

  • Enable "Bypass Mode" on the Gen 3 router and leave Deco as the only Wi-Fi router
    • Please open Starlink APP>Settings>Advanced to enable Bypass mode

(Bypass mode will disable the built-in Starlink WiFi router functionality. A factory reset is required if you want to switch back to router mode. )

  • Keep the default settings on the Gen 3 router, then set Deco into Access Point mode.
    • Please Follow this guide to change Deco into Access Point mode.

Q&A:

Q: Do I need to delete the current Deco Mesh system and set it up again after switching Starlink Gen 3 from the previous modem?

A: Usually, We don't need to delete the previous Mesh configuration. Please confirm the connection type has been set to Dynamic IP and Deco should be plug-and-plug once Starlink Gen 3 is online.

Q: Can I connect both Decos directly to the Starlink Gen 3 router? Will I have Ethernet Backahul on the Deco?

A: It should work but Deco needs to be set into Access Point mode first.

@David-TP My experinec was terrible with the XE75 Pro. I bou8gh the 3 pack and set them up with teh starlink Gen 3. Starlink router in bypass mode, Deco as main router and messed other 2 devices. When it works it fine. I had one PC plugged into ethernet on the main Deco router. But every day something happened. The forst 2 days the deco speed reduced from the normal 400MBs to 20. This may have been due to me setting up parental control. In the end i tried to reverse the changes I had made but the changes dod not take and I have to perform a reset.

The same thing happened (had to perform a reset as the changes could not be reversed) when I Changed from router to access point mode and when I tried to Set up priority devices.

I have repacked the routers up and they are on their merry way back to Amazon. Unstable and a wste of time IMHO.

I am tech savvy and followed all instructions but the download speed was throttled on a daily basis.
