Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.8 Yapı 20211126 Rel. 67847

I am using RE300 model wifi range extender. I bought the device second hand and I have been using it for 2 days. I have some questions. What is the hardware version and what does it do? How can I find out the hardware version of the device? What are the differences between RE300 V1 and RE300 V2? I would be very grateful if you could answer my questions and help me. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Different hardware versions of the same product (model) often mean that some internal components are different. This also affects the firmware, which means different hardware versions of the same model use different firmware.

You can always find the hardware version printed on the label that is attached to the device. Depending on the firmware it may also be listed in the web managament interface of the device, within the "firmware update" menu.

Given the firmware version you listed in your post it appears that your RE300 is hardware version V1 (usually printed as V1.0 or V1.2, etc.)

I think from a user's perspective the main difference between V1 and V2 is that the V1 only supports the older and proprietary "OneMesh", while V2 also supports "EasyMesh".

Hello. First of all, thank you very much for taking your valuable time and answering my question. I could not see any information about the hardware version on the back of the device, on the box of the device and on the user manual of the device. However, according to the information you provided, although I am not sure about my device, I believe that the hardware version of the device is V1, relying on your information. Thank you once again and have a nice day.

Did you also get your range extender from a bulk-seller of refurbished products? I know they sometimes remove the labels, like they did on my box. The arrow in the picture points to where the label once was.

But according to TP-Link's Emulator for the RE300 V1 you should see the hardware version in the web GUI, like shown in the screenshot below.
