Static addresses reservation and customised names when changing subnet
Hello,
I have a network with 4 Deco M5, and its subnet is 192.168.22.0/24
I wish to change the subnet mask to 192.168.22.0/22
If I do so, will I loose my actually configured static IP address reservations and customised device names?
By customised device name I talk about what we can change in the deco app, in a device setting so only the displayed name to identify better the device.
As the new subnet is allowing the actually reserved addresses, I would hop these settings would not be lost.

I changed my settings and result is a little different than expected.
As expected, changing subnet in More->advanced->LAN IP has not changed anything for static addresses and customised names.
But when I changed the DHCP range, all address reservations have switched from 192.168.22.xxx to 192.168.20.xxx
So I only had to replace 20 by 22 for all address reservations, which is really better than the worst case where I would have to set everything again.
Everything was kept exactly the same for customised names.

If you change the Subnet mask of your network from 192.168.22.0/24 to 192.168.22.0/22, it will indeed expand the IP address range of your network. However, please note that making this change may result in the loss of any statically assigned IP addresses and custom device names that are currently configured.

@Joseph-TP Thanks for your answer but unfortunatly, it remain my question in the same point I was when asking it...
It, this may result in these assignation being lost, or not if I understand you. This remains a probability.
But what is the expected result or more precisely, what have been implemented by TP-Link developers in this situation? I would have expected something not random...

Did you change the IP range at DHCP? If so, this generally does not affect Static addresses reservation and customized names.

@Joseph-TP in fact I have not changed anything because I wanted to know what to expect.
For the moment, my DHCP address range is 192.168.22.1-192.168.22.250 with mask 255.255.255.0, I did not touch the mask as I said.
These are the setting I configured the first time I set my Deco mode to router.

@Joseph-TP why don't I see the last of your post in this topic? I had a notification where you told you checked and it should not remove my address reservations and customised names if changing DHCP range but I don't have it in the topic.
Is there a problem with your answer? And it is the same for subnet mask in DHCP settings? It won't delete my settings for static addresses or customised names?

I did reply before but couldn't find the post. Maybe I accidentally deleted my previous post.
After consulting with senior engineers, I learned that changing the Subnet mask generally does not affect the static IP and device name.
