Model: Archer VR2100
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.0.0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 220518 Rel.41627n

Hello

I upgraded from FTTN to FTTP today. I reconfigured the router to use the WAN port rather than VDSL and it connects fine.

I selected the Aussie BB 1000/50 plan

Any device connected to the Archer VR2100 via ethernet gets around 700/45 which is what I expected

Wifi devices however are capped at 100mbps down (some get less but average is around 80/40).

I have two TPLink RE605X Mesh extenders providing wifi to opposite ends of the house with the router in the middle.

Doesn't matter whether I use 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz wifi; both are speed limited.

Any recommendations?

First check the VR2100 ethernet status and make sure that your cable connections negotiated speed is 1000 mbps:

If everything's correct in VR2100 LAN section go to the wireless settings and disable Smart Connect and use the 5Ghz band for better wireless bandwidth:

Hi,

If you have enabled smart connect, you can disable it and connect to 5G. Usually 5G WIFI will provide higher speed.

If it still the same, please review the following troubleshooting steps:
    1. Simplify network topology by connecting one device to the TP-Link modem via 5G WIFI, and do the speedtest three times without doing any high-bandwidth activities like P2P download. And check the speed you get.
    2. Check the wireless link speed. How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client
    3. Change Channel Width, 2.4GHz→40MHz, 5GHz→80MHz. Changing Channel and Channel Width on AC VDSL or ADSL Modem Router (new logo)
For more details, please refer to this guidance:

What should I do if internet connection is slow when the device is connected to the TP-Link DSL Modem?
