Hey there,

I recently purchased a Deco x50 system with two Deco's.

The main Deco is wired directly to the modem. The satellite is connected wirelessly.

The initial setup was not as straightforward as it should have been, but eventually, everything worked fine.

I have enabled both 2.4/5 GHz bands from the Deco app.

The problem is that the satellite only connects with the main one on the 2.4 GHz signal source, and any device connect to the satellite source will only use 2.4 GHz.

On the satellite Deco, the Source Signal will only show "2.4GHz" and it will never show "5GHz" or "2.4GHz/5Ghz."

It will only show 2.4GHz regardless of its distance from the main Deco. I have tested this by placing the two devices next to each other.

I tried changing the wifi channel width for 5GHz from 160 to 80, and nothing changed.

If I changed the network to 5GHz only, all devices would try to connect to the main one. and If I used only one unit (the satellite) as my main and changed the network to 5GHz everything will not be able to connect.

looking at a wifi scanner, I can see only 3 network instead of 4, so Is it a faulty unit?

  @Zaherg

Yes, it appears you've got defective unit. You did all the right tests to prove that.
