Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.5.8 Build 20230619

Hello,

I have been experiencing reduced speeds through the Deco M4 equipment, whether connected via Wi-Fi or using a wired connection.

Here is the network setup in my house:

  • Devices:
    • 1 MEO Router
    • 3 Deco M4 units

Connections:

  • MEO Router (cable A) DECO 001
  • DECO 001 (cable B) DECO 002
  • DECO 001 (Wi-Fi) DECO 003

During speed tests, I observed the following results:

  • When connecting my computer to cable A, I achieve 510MB of download speed.
  • When connecting my computer to cable B, I achieve 230MB of download speed.
  • When connecting my computer via Wi-Fi to DECO 001, I achieve 200MB of download speed.

Currently, I am using the Deco in router mode, and on the MEO router, I have port 4 in Bridge mode.

I would appreciate some guidance on how to improve my network.

Thank you,

For troubleshooting purposes, can you switch MEO Router to gateway mode? That will allow better troubleshooting for Deco mesh.

@Alexandre. the MEO router doesn't support the gateway mode option.
Is there anything else I can try?

What options does MEO router support, other than bridge?

Google is not very helpful when I search for "MEO Router," but some of the pictures show device with 4 Ethernet ports. If your MEO Router has four Ethernet ports, it should have router (or gateway) option in which it runs as a router with all four Ethernet ports active.

Thanks, this is very helpful.

Main Deco is connected to LAN4 as you said. I also see that something is connected to LAN1 of MEO router, what is it?

Also, if you connect Main Deco to LAN2 with Ethernet cable, will it connect?

One more question: it appears you have WiFi enabled on MEO Router. When connecting your computer via Wi-Fi to MEO Router (instead of Deco mesh), what download speeds are you getting?

Main Deco is connected to LAN4 as you said. I also see that something is connected to LAN1 of MEO router, what is it?

I have another device (Raspberry Pi) serving as a remote server.

"Also, if you connect Main Deco to LAN2 with Ethernet cable, will it connect?"

Yes, it will work. After a brief call with MEO provider support, they advised me to connect to port 4 and enable bridge mode for better speed.

WiFi enabled on MEO Router... what download speeds are you getting?

442 Mbps with wifi

OK, we can now start with troubleshooting Deco mesh. The objective will be to see if we can reach similar speeds to MEO Router WiFi, which would be 400Mbps-500Mbps.

First step is to configured Deco mesh to run in Access Point mode: Switching a Deco to Access Point (AP) Mode

If Deco LED stays red after this, meaning it can't access Internet, connect Main Deco to LAN2.

When successful and Deco mesh is online and reported healthy in Deco app, repeat speed tests again.
