Model: Archer AX72
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 20230626

Hi all, I am experiencing really odd behaviour when setting up a mesh network.

structure of the network is (or i would like it to be) Easymesh (EM)

AX72 ---- ethernet ---- RE605x(EM) ---- wifi ---- RE605x(EM)

now the issue,  when the RE605x is not plugged into the ethernet the router works just fine, adds new DHCP clients, existing ones work with internet all is good.

as soon as the ethernet connection is plugged in it starts behaving very poorly.  will refuse some connections (wouldnt let the TV connect but other devices were OK) will drop connections all over the place, cause latency spikes for gaming comptuers.

even the web interface would frequently stop responding & get operation failures.

i Just factory reset the units, reconfigured and plugged it back in to have the same issue again.

in desperation i have just changed the Ethernet connected RE605x to AP mode and so far it seems to be working OK.

so my current structure now is

AX72 ---- ethernet ---- RE605x(AP) ---- wifi ---- RE605x(EM)

it will probably work OK but means there will be dropout when walking between, which i bought the units to avoid happening.

Does anyone have ideas on whats causing this and hopefully a solution?

cheers.

  @novex

That's most probably because RE605x doesn't support an ethernet backhaul while it's in Easymesh setup.

Either use both RE605x wirelessly or one of the RE605x in AP mode as you are.
