Model: RE305
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.11 Build 220805 Rel.55827n

I have just added a second TP-LINK AC1200 WiFi Range Extender RE305 to my home network. Both each run from a LAN port on the rear of our router in the main part of the house. These are the only things plugged into the network, everything else connects via wireless using those access points or the router directly.

Since adding the second router I have had continuous drop outs, and when I view the Clients in the Tether app, all of a sudden it's shot up to 8 wired connections, none of which I can block, and my internet connection fails.

After 5-10 minutes it rectifies. ANy tips?

@RogerKilljoy

The firmware of the RE305 is an older version, it's suggested to upgrade and install the latest firmware first, then reconfigure it to connect to the main router.

BTW, can I know the model of the main router? Is it also a TP-Link router? When connecting the RE305 to the main router via an Ethernet cable, please make sure you've changed its working mode to Access Point mode.
