Solution Wi-Fi Range Extender Causing Host Router No Internet
This Article Applied to
TL-WA850RE_V7;TL-WA855RE_V5
Issue Description
After setting up the extenders, users might notice that any device (laptop/desktop computer/mobile phone) trying to connect to the original router network is unable to connect. Over WiFi it says 'Connected, no internet' and for Ethernet connections, it seems to show it as an 'Unidentified Network'. Connecting these devices to the extender works fine. After switching off the extender, all the devices immediately work fine on the host network.

@David-TP I have the same problem as well.
But I bought my TL-WA855RE (US) V5 from Taiwan, are there any firmware version that I can use?
If not, will the bug be fixed by turn off the extender's DHCP option in tplinkrepeater.net?
Thank you.

@Gerry-213 Yes, in my case it worked. If TL-WA850RE's DHCP is on Archer VR400's wi-fi was dropping continously.

Update to my earlier post.
After things working OK after setting the DHCP Server to 'Off', quite a few months later I started getting similar issues to before, in that my Windows PCs (a desktop and a laptop), whilst reporting connection to the LAN (desktop - Ethernet, Laptop - WiFi), both reported 'No Internet. In fact they were not connected to the LAN properly either, as I could not access other local devices.
I suspected the Range Extender as the problem and looked up the Firmwar patch to find the latest release (TL-WA854RE(EU)_V4_1.0.13 Build 231115) stated - '1. Fixed the bug that clients can not access the Internet in some cases;'. So I updated the Firmware to this release (I'm in the UK not EU!) and the problem immediately went away. I have 2 of these devices and updated both.

I am having this issue but with a TL-WA865RE(FR) v6. Will there be a fix out because I have bought two and both are currently unusable due to the problem.

Hi, can I have the model number of your range extender?
Have you tried to update the firmware through the web interface, instead of the Tether APP?

I think it is due to your Deco doesn't support TP-Link Cloud Management.
Thank you very much and best regards.
