EDIT: This is resolved for me as of firmware version 1.2.1 Build 20230920 Rel. 62115 (setting all satellite decos to only connect to the main deco)

 

 

I am having problems with packet loss appearing almost daily with my Deco PX50 setup. It is solved by either rebooting, or turning off some of the PX50's.

 

My setup:

  • Router
    • Main Deco PX50 - in access point mode - connected to router by ethernet cable
      • 3 satellite Deco PX50 - all connected with both PLC + WiFi (all either medium or strong signal) to the Main Deco PX50
        • PC - connected to one of the satellite Deco PX50 by ethernet cable
  • All PX50's running latest firmware 1.0.3
  • All plugged directly into wall sockets, no extension cables

 

 

Evidence of Issue:

The below is a pingplot from my PC to my router. It shows intermittent packet loss. At 17:39, I turned off one of the other PX50's (not the main one, and not the satellite PX50 my computer is connected to), and the packet loss stops:

 

 

 

 

This is happening daily with the PX50's. It seems like these devices get into a state where they interfere with each other somehow? Is 4 PX50's on the network too many for this new PLC protocol to handle, or is it the wifi backhaul causing the problem? I notice there are other threads with similar issues for this device.

 

  1. What is causing this regular packet loss?
  2. Why is it solved by turning off one of the other PX50 devices

 

I previously had exactly the same setup with Deco P9's (even same plug sockets, main router, and ethernet cables), and did not have any packet loss issues on the network at all.

Just wanted to update this thread... For me the problem is fixed with firmware version 1.2.1 Build 20230920 Rel. 62115. Setting all satellite decos to only connect to the main deco with the latest firmware update, the problem no longer happens.

Hi, welcome to the community.

 4 units in the same Powerline Mesh do not sound too much and I think they would work well together. But I am not sure what might be the problem.

Could you please help me check the following details:

1. Are you able to stably reproduce this issue in a short time?

2. Did the packet loss stop after randomly turning off any of the two satellite PX50s, or it has to be a specific PX50?

3. If the computer is connected to the main Deco PX50, would you have the same issue?

  @David-TP Thanks for the reply, here are answers to your questions and some additional information:

 

  1. No, I'm not able to reproduce this issue in a short time. It happened again today, but was fine for the previous 4 days.
  2. After more investigation, it requires a specific satellite deco to be turned off or rebooted (but not the same one each time). The packet loss starts when one of the satellite deco devices gets into a loop of going offline, or trying to connect to one of the other satellite decos instead of the main deco (the main deco is the closest to all satellites). Every 10 or so seconds the status in my deco app switches between these two states:
  3. When the PC is connected to the main deco, the same packet loss issue exists.

 

Questions:

  1. Why does this happen?
  2. Why does one satellite deco having problems cause packet loss on the entire network?

 

 

Additional info + one more unrelated bug:

  • I am able to observe the same packet lost when connected by both wifi and ethernet.
  • It happens randomly with the satellite deco (not the same device each time).
  • Some errors seen in the logs on the deco devices are below (not sure if any of this is related)
  • An unrelated bug: The time on the satellite decos does not match the time on the main deco (main deco is correct) and there is no setting to change this

Just a note that the issue is still present with the new firmware update: 1.0.4 Build 20230915 Rel. 59778

 

It happens whenever any satellite PX50 connects to any other satellite PX50 instead of the main PX50.

 

Is there any estimate on when the firmware update will be available where we will be able to force devices to only connect to the Deco device we choose?

  @5907485 I'm encountering this too, even when pinging the main deco. This also never happened to me when I had Deco P9's. I really hope that this gets resolved soon.
