TP-Link TL-WA850RE messes up with home WiFi networks
TP-Link TL-WA850RE messes up with home WiFi networks
Hello.
I purchased the TP-Link TL-WA850RE to extend my 2.4Ghz network to some rooms.
I have a VX220-G2v modem router at home which broadcasts two WiFi network, one 2.4Ghz which is the one I wnat to extend and another one at 5Ghz.
The problem is that after some time, these 2 network no longer let me access internet or it is deadly slow! I can only access internet via the extended network,
that unfortunately is slower than the original ones. When connected to my 5Ghz network, Win11 tells me "No Internet" and I cannot even access the router via its local gateway 192.168.1.1.
I tried both standard settings, but also enabled DHCP on the extender and avoid the IP ranges of router and extender to overlap,
but it didn't solve.
The position is said to be optimal by Theter APP. Am I missing something?
Regards,
Marco

Hi,
This is an old thread from August of this year. In the meantime TP-Link has published firmware updates for the affected models that fix this particular issue, although these fixes haven't made it into release versions of the firmware and are therefore not to be found on the official download pages. The links are only listed in this thread. https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/628396

Thank You very much for your post! I saw the thread was a bit old, but I always rather post in an old thread than start a new one with a similar issue.
I have downloaded the and installed the mentioned Firmware on the WA850RE and the WA855RE and after 12 hours, it is looking so far so good, but I'll keep monitoring...
What I did to monitor them to pick up the problems, is that I would constantly ping my Extenders from my PC with the "-t" flag and I would see the response time go up to and over 1000ms for both the WA850RE and WA855RE when the problems start. I would the reboot the WA850RE and the response times would drop back to sub 10ms for both.
It has been running fine for 12 hours now and I will report if this changes.

Thanks for your updates. I just read about these beta versions. Glad you may have solved with these. Unfortunately I has to return the unit and choose another one since I need it to work at home and couldn't wait too long for a solution.
Thanks,
Marco

Hi,
I have a TL-WA850RE(EN) Ver:7.0 range extender and when I connect it I can no longer navigate with the router's main network (always TP-LINK). Everything is configured correctly, in fact if I disconnect the range extender I can navigate perfectly on the main network. If the range extender is active I can only browse with the extended network.
Do you think that a firmware upgrade could solve the problem ? Which version should I use ? Thank you.

Hi,
If you have a TL-WA850RE_V7, then go to this website https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/628396 and then click the link for the model TL-WA850RE_V7. On the page that opens download the newest available firmware and then install it.
