High ping when using RE650 extender
Hi,
I've just bought an extender yesterday, although it's improved the speed from 32mps to 58mps the download latency has gone from 59 to 386 on my 5ghz. The app says the extender is in perfect range. Has anyone got any tips?
Pretty limited on plugs that I can use, it's currently in the bedroom above the router (closest) or the other option is in the office which is +4/5m from the bedroom where it currently is - and further away from the router, I can't imagine it being any better?

Hello, thank you for posting on TP-Link Community.
1. May I know if the speed and download latency were tested at the extender location on both router 5G Wi-Fi and also extender 5G Wi-Fi?
2. What is the model number of your main router? and the extender connects to the main router wirelessly on both 2.4G and 5G, right?
3. Please connect a computer to the extender via Ethernet cable and test the extender speed and latency again
4. How many client devices are usually connected to the router and extender? What are they?
5. What is the hardware and firmware version of your RE650?

Thank you for the reply. Please see the answers below
1. The tests were run in the same location and on the same device.
2. Router is a Hub 3.0, VMDG505 / TG2492LG-VM. Yes, extender connects wirelessly to both 2.4 & 5.
3. Virgin never left a ethernet cable, so I will need to buy one to test.
4. To the router, maybe 4 devices at one time (usually 2/3). The extender was bought only for my work laptop so 1 device between 09:00-18:00
5. Hardware: v2.0, firmware: 1.0.5 build 20211130 rel. 77836
Hopefully there's enough there to help, will sort out 3. asap

3. Without the ethernet cable I got 65mb download speed and 390 latency. With the cable I got 79mb and 208 latency
