Hello,

there I got this modem yesterday.

When I am opening the game I play, it always gives me the note, that my settings are on "Strict .NAT",

so I will need to open and forward some specific ports.

I remember having done it on another router, but here it kinda seems a bit over-complicated?

I have port triggering, but not port forwarding f.e.?

Under port triggering, it only shows 9 applications to select, not the one i play, and some I don´t even have installed?

These are the settings I will have to change in order to be able to properly use the modem.

If it´s not possible I have no reason to keep the modem tho... on my phone hotspot I can use an app for it....

Ports that should be open:

Platform TCP Destination Ports UDP Destination Ports
PC 80, 443, 1119-1120, 3074, 3724, 4000, 6112-6114
7500-7509
30000-30009
80, 443, 1119-1120, 3074, 3097-3196, 3724, 4000, 6112-6114,
27015-27200

Ports to forward:

Platform TCP Destination Ports UDP Destination Ports
PC N/A 3074, 3097

Additional question/note:

Do I have to restart the modem each time I change something in the settings?

- If I use UPnP it doesn´t change the error I get notified in-game.

- Also I turned off following ALGs:

L2TP

IPsec pass-through

H323 ALG

SIP ALG

- turning on DMZ with my computer´s IP doesn´t change it either.

Hi, are you trying to play computer game or play via xbox or play station?

Regarding the port forwarding or to open ports, please don't use port triggering, but use Virtual Servers under NAT Forwarding.

If it still doesn't solve the gaming issue, please check Internet IPv4 address of Status page on the web interface to see if it is a public IP or private IP.

If it is a private IP address, it means the ISP uses CGNAT on their end, that is to say, there is another NAT in the front(ISP side) which causes the issue, please try to contact your ISP to see if they could assign you a public IP address directly.

Thank you for the Answer.

I play on PC.

Just called my provider and asked for additional info.

They said that the ip-configs are set to open, not private. But I don't have an IPv4. When I asked about IPv6, she said ahe will send me an e-mail with information. (which I haven't gotten 😅).

So I will try it via virtual servers. Will post a screenshot below. I am not totally sure how to set it, please correct if I entered it wrong.

Is this correct according to the ports written more above?

Because TCP destination is N/A, I switched to UDP. HTTP was also said to be most efficient so I used that.

Edit: Ports to be open = internal

And ports to be forward = external i guess?

So I switched those two

Either nor worked. Still get the "Network set to strict.NAT" notification.

Aaand this one didn´t work either.

Unless I will have to restart the modem, after I change an option?

And just to make sure.

Hi, the 192.168.0.138 is your computer IP address instead of the Internet IPv4 address of the MiFi device.

Please login the web interface of the MiFi device via 192.168.0.1 or tplinkmifi.net, then go to Status page to look for Internet IP address.

In addition, regarding the virtual servers settings, internal port is the port(s) that you need to open, external port can be the same as internal port.

Based on your previous table, there are many ports need to open, such as 80, 443 etc. instead of 80 only, but it seems that you only tried to open port 80. May I know if they were provided by the gaming provider or gaming platform?

I have to use the ip from the Mifi device?

Yes, these ports more above were provided by the game developer. I can not post links in here. But if you search for "help dot bungie dot net" and then search for NAT, it will come up at the top.

So I have to open each one of those ports? Because from what I remember, opening one was enough before.

But I am no specialists as you notice.

Besides 80 I tried the others as well. But not multiple ones at the same time.

Can you show me in a screenshot how to correctly open those ports?

Hi, based on the screenshot of your status page, the internet IPv4 address is 10.x.x.x which is a private IP address, it means there is another NAT in the front(on ISP side since you are using SIM card only). In that case, the port forwarding will not work.

It is recommended to contact the ISP to see if they could assign you a public IP address directly.

By the way, you mentioned that opening port 80 only was enough, may I know if your old router is also 4G router working with the same SIM card? or the old router was using broadband instead of SIM card for internet access?
