Model: Archer MR600
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.7.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 220826 Rel.58057n

Greetings,

A few days ago I was offered an updated firmware by the Webinterface of my router Archer MR600 V2 (EU). My firmware before updating was: 1.5.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 210914 Rel.59719n. Everything always worked as expected. My ISP is: O2 Telefonica Germany. Our monthly plan is: 100 Mbps download / 40 Mbps upload.

Before the update the LTE Connection was always between 75 and 100%. There were always between 2 and 3 bars on the routers led. The integrated speed test always showed between 65-100 Mbps in download and 35-40 mbps in upload.

Then I updated over the Web Interface GUI to the new firmware. After updating I restarted the router logged in and checked all the settings.

Since updating- the LTE connection with the new firmware: 1.7.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 220826 Rel.58057n only reaches between 25 and 75% and the test with the integrated speed test NEVER exceeds 45 Mbps in download and 32 Mbps in upload. Sometimes even less, like 26 Mbps in download and 7 Mbps in upload. There are times it shows NO BARS at all on the routers LED. It was never like that before! We didn't change the routers location. It is still at the same exact spot and location as it was the last 5 months.

Cross checked the provider and put the SIM Card from the router in my phone, No Problems, reached directly 89 Mbps in Down and 39 Mbps in Upload. Put the SIM Card back into the router, 36 Mbps in Down and 12 Mbps in Upload. I am not amused!

My wife and I are working in our homeoffice and our daughter studies at the university and has daily online video lectures with Teams. This is not acceptable!

Everything was working fine before updating the firmware. We need to revert back to firmware 1.5.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 210914 Rel.59719n !

I need a solution for this problem!

Regards

Hi, I am afraid your current firmware cannot downgrade to previous firmware 1.5.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 210914 Rel.59719n, because the middle firmware in between doesn't allow the downgrading.

However, we could troubleshoot the current issue on the current firmware now to locate the problem and try to solve it, please try the following steps:

1. Did you notice which band(s) the MR600 was using before on previous firmware? the band can be found on Advanced->Status page.

2. Please try to select 4G band(s) manually on the current firmware to find a better band with higher speed:

How to select 4G band manually on the web interface of LTE Gateway Routers

3. May I know if the speedtest was done via wireless connection? please make sure you are connected via 5GHz WiFi, and please also test Ethernet connection to avoid wireless interference.

4. May I know the model no. of your phone? and when you test the SIM card on the phone, it was connected to 4G, 4G+ or 5G? if you are not sure now, please test again and also check which band(s) the phone uses:

@Sunshine

1. Did you notice which band(s) the MR600 was using before on previous firmware? the band can be found on Advanced->Status page.

B1 B3 B7 B20 - Now using same bands.

2. Please try to select 4G band(s) manually on the current firmware to find a better band with higher speed:

How to select 4G band manually on the web interface of LTE Gateway Routers

Tried, no change

3. May I know if the speedtest was done via wireless connection? please make sure you are connected via 5GHz WiFi, and please also test Ethernet connection to avoid wireless interference. I used LAN Cable for testing

4. May I know the model no. of your phone? and when you test the SIM card on the phone, it was connected to 4G, 4G+ or 5G? if you are not sure now, please test again and also check which band(s) the phone uses: How to check the 4G band working on our smartphones My Phone is a Xiaomi Mi9 Lite and is connected with 4G

BTW. I never installed the middle Firmware.

Thank you for your help.

Hi, on the Xiaomi phone with the same SIM card, please double-check if it shows 4G or 4G+, then check which band(s) the phone uses and send us the screenshots:

By the way, on the MR600 V2 now, the network type shows 4G or 4G+? you mentioned that it uses B1 B3 B7 B20, do you mean it changes automatically among those bands? and one band at a time, or sometimes two bands?

  @bluescajon I update firmware .7.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 220826 Rel.58057n and speed drop a lot. No 4g+ anymore. Only 40/40 max.  must change router manufactory bc no downgrade firmware. I spend hours about bands combines.

  @petrijuhani Update for successful downgrade. I make kamikaze firmaware downgrade and voila 4g+ is back. Download 1.5 and kick it in manually by usb drive.

Hello, thank you very much for the feedback.

For more 4G+ issue, it is recommended to follow this thread for troubleshooting: Carrier Aggregation or 4G+ doesn’t work properly on LTE Advanced Router

  @bluescajon

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your experience after the firmware update. It's essential to have a stable Website connection, especially for remote work and study. Have you contacted the router's customer support or considered reaching out to them for assistance in reverting to the previous firmware version?
