Hello Everyone ...

I am planning to buy an Archer C6 to be used as a main router i e the root router. I would also like it to connect wirelessly to a Netgear Nighthawk R7000p router that i wish to use to extend my wifi network.

The R7000p doesn't have a repeater mode but has a bridge mode.

So in essence my query is:

1: Can Archer C6 Connect wirelessly as the root router with Nighthawk  R7000p configued in the bridge mode in 5G or 2.4 G Frequency.

2: Also can i also connect another old N300 routers from Netgear that have wirless repeater mode in 2.4G frequency as extenders alongwith the Nighthawk R7000p configured in bridge mode.

3: If this or these are possible ... Can I do it via the wds bridge function in Archer C6

Request the experts to please help as i need to make a quick yet informed decision to buy the same.

Thank you

PS: Compatibility to connect and use the Netgear Nighthawk R7000p configured in bridge mode is vital.

Nighthawk R7000p is an AC2300 router from Netgear.

  @Paarth

1: Can Archer C6 Connect wirelessly as the root router with Nighthawk  R7000p configued in the bridge mode in 5G or 2.4 G Frequency.

Archer C6 could use WDS to connect to the Nighthawk  R7000p.

Nighthawk  R7000p doesn't have a bridge mode - it has an AP mode (access point mode) and you should have another router before Nighthawk  R7000p which would be your main (root) router, providing DHCP servivce to all other devices behind.

Refer this Netgear KB.

2: Also can i also connect another old N300 routers from Netgear that have wirless repeater mode in 2.4G frequency as extenders alongwith the Nighthawk R7000p configured in bridge mode.

If these devices have wireless repeater mode (range-extender mode) this should be possible as well.

3: If this or these are possible ... Can I do it via the wds bridge function in Archer C6

There's a big chance that this will work. Just keep in mind the following note regarding WDS feature:

WDS may be incompatible between different products (even occasionally from the same vendor) since the IEEE 802.11-1999 standard does not define how to construct any such implementations or how stations interact to arrange for exchanging frames of this format.-----From Wikipedia
