Model: UB500
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have recently purchased a set of Bose QC45 NC headsets.

Sound, comfort and noise-cancelling are first class when connected via audio cable.

My desktop is a Dell Optiplex using Windows 7 Pro and has a UB500 in place.

It appears to be impossible to pair the headsets to the PC using Bluetooth.

The QC45's will appear in the Device Driver, but cannot be "discovered" and subsequently "pair".

My old Sony headset (WH-CH150) will however "pair" with the same PC.

The Bose QC45's will "pair" with my iPad.

I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.

Any advice please.

Thank you.

  @JohnTait

You could have a look at Q6 Why my PC can’t find my Bluetooth devices after the Bluetooth USB Adapter is installed successfully?

Hi,

While the UB500's hardware technically supports Bluetooth 5.0, I doubt that anything higher than Bluetooth 4.0 is supported when used with Windows 7.

I think it is possible that the Bose QC45 headphones require a Bluetooth feature that is not part of BT 4.0 specification.

Do you have access to a computer running Windows 10 or 11 to test whether the Bose QC45 can pair with the UB500 then?

Thank you woozle. You are quite correct. I don't think Windows 7 can handle Bluetooth 5.1. Bose QC 45 are Bluetooth 5.1 LMP 9 Bluetooth Core Specification on Windows 7 is 5.0. I'll have to use the audio cable or upgrade to Windows 10 or 11. Cheers.
