Model: Archer A9
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: Build 20210315 rel. 40637

Hi all,

Hoping someone can assist with this very annoying issue. My wifi will randomly drop on the router, even though the modem is showing a solid connection. I have had the Archer A9 for a few years now and never had this issue. I'm not sure if it's related but I recently swapped out my modem with my ISP as I needed a Docsys 3 modem to support my new connection. The issue started a week or two after this swap over.

The connection light on the router will turn orange and the only way to get the connection back is to reboot it. It disconnects the wifi for all connected devices, in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I have verified that I am running the latest firmware - signal strength in strong throughout the home...

Could there be anything I need to change/update on the wifi as a result of updating my modem? Any other suggestions?

As a side note, it seems to happen most often when we have multiple devices connected at once. For example, if we have a guest or two over and they connect their phones, it tends to occur. Today, both my wife and I work from home and had the World Cup games streaming on separate devices in the background. It kept dropping wifi to the point where I had to just shut off those video streams. The problem seems to have stopped after this.

@Caubs

What kind of modem you were using, and what is that now? Are both from the same provider? How about the internet bandwidth? Were you also upgrading the internet plan to a higher speed?

If the connection light on the A9 turns orange, that generally means it gets disconnected from your modem. You can try with a new cat 5e cable between them, then monitor.

You can also try some other suggestions provided by Kevin in this thread and see if any help.
