Model: Archer AX72
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.2 Build 20220520 rel.75663(4555)

Hello,

I have 2 identical Archer AX72 v1 routers, connected over an ethernet cable. One of them is connected to the internet modem.

I'd like to merge them into an OneMesh network, to get it's benefits over having 2 separate Wi-Fi networks (even if they have the same name). Is this possible?

I tried entering settings for OneMesh and I do see the second router there but if I press Add if fails with a message "Operation failed.".

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your answers!

Kind regards,

Rok

You're targeting mesh features - AP mode won't give the fast switching.

Good news is that AX72 router is on the list for EasyMesh - better wait till EasyMesh feature is implemented in AX72 FW and then you'll be able to have this feature with your AX72.

EasyMesh is planned to be implemented with an ethernet backhaul and in AP mode as well.

You can't connect two routers in OneMesh - check this FAQ - Q5/A5 and Q10/A10.

But you could use the second AX72 in AP mode (Case 1) and have two separate wireless networks, even with the same name.

  @terziyski thanks for the reply.
Will the AP mode give me fast switching between the 2 routers?

The problem I'm actually trying to solve is that when I connect to Router 1 and then walk to Router 2, my device is still connected to Router 1, with a weak connection and it doesn't automatically switch to Router 2 which would obviously be way better since I'm right next to it.

I have two ax55 used time for this easymash(wifi) Speed drops twice when it is possible through the cable. I connected the second ax55 APmode via cable, disconnected Wi-Fi.

@terziyski that's brilliant, can't wait for EasyMesh. Thanks for letting me know. yes

Would you have any idea when it's planned to be released? Are we talking about weeks, months or years?

No one can give you a definitive answer to that, but everyone hopes it wouldn't be months or years - here's a thread about this functionality which you could take for example.
