I forgot my router password, unable to reset it. Can I update firmware without router password.

Without knowing the administrative password you can't update the router's FW.
You should be able to reset the router to its factory defaults like that:
But beware that Archer C5 v4 is tailored for ISPs. So if it has been provided to you by your ISP contact them to be advised fiirst.
