Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Firmware Version:0.7.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 210313 Rel.74106n

Two devices are completely refusing to connect to my 2.4 connection. These are a tablet and the Xbox (One S)

I have been using the vr2800 instead of the crappy Sky router, but today I changed provider and I'm now with Plusnet. I opted to keep using the VR2800, mainly because I really didn't want the hassle of having to change all the details on the millions of devices that we have (well, not literally millions!) Everything is running smoothly apart from these two devices.

All devices that have been checked immediately reconnected to my 2ghz wifi connection as soon as the switchover was completed. I just haven't checked things like Chromecasts etc yet.

I haven't changed any of the settings on the router (apart from swapping from Sky to Plusnet, obviously) and I did also set the channel to auto from 11 only to see if that would help these particular devices connect but it didn't make any difference.

The SSID is the same etc.

I'm totally at a loss as to why this is happening. There are no extenders currently installed although I do plan to put them back in at some point now that I have changed provider. Tried the usual restart router etc.

By the way, I'm in the UK.

I'd appreciate any help possible. Just so you know, I can't always play around with it due to working from home and, well, kids shouting at me if it goes off!

These are the recommended wireless security settings:

If they don't work for you try these:

Don't forget to click on Save button after changing them.

If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue. If this solves your issue, click the star to make it blue and mark the post as a "Recommended Solution".

@terziyski

Thanks for the suggestion. The first image is how it was already set up and I had previously tried Auto but that didn't make a difference.

However, I again set it back to how it first was and this time a restart appears to have worked and both devices have connected to the 2.4.

But I have noticed that IPv6 doesn't seem to be working, but it is enabled in the advanced settings. Do you have any ideas at all?

IPv6 is enabled by default. For configuring IPv6 refer your VR2800 user guide and the ISP.

If you don't use IPv6 DSL line connection provided by your ISP then just disabled it.

I've had to re-open this thread.

I've been away for a few days, and again the same two devices won't connect to 2.4 but will connect to 5ghz for whatever reason.

I could really do with some friendly suggestions for why this might be happening.

Upgrade the VR2800 FW to the latest release - Here's how upgrade the FW.

Afterwards try this post suggestions to see if that will make any difference.

Thanks. I'll give this a try the next time no one else is using the internet. It might be a while - it's the school holidays!

@cymru78 I visited this thread as my router has been exhibiting exactly the same symptoms as yours for a few weeks. Nothing has apparently changed unless an update has been installed automatically. I have played around with security on 2.4 channel and the only way I get ALL devices to connect to 2.4 at the same time is by turning off security which is not acceptable. For now I have had to setup a guest network with different security settings to normal 2.4 and now all devices are able to connect to one of the channels. My device says there it is on the latest firmware but I will check the links mentioned earlier. Just letting you know you are not alone! Please report if you find a solution and I will do the same
