Model: TL-WR841N
Hardware Version: V14
Firmware Version:

Home setup. not an expert by any means.

cable-->Internet  router  ---> SG105 switch ----> TL_WR841 AP

I setup port based VLAN   (not 802..1Q VLAN) in the  switch and I am able to connect with laptop with internet access to any of the ports

I setup the router as an Acces Point  but I don't get  get access to the internet through WIFI

I configured the a new ip address for the router in the same subnet as the switch with the gateway IP the same as the switch. The rest is the normal AP configuration with SSID and password the rest default.

My goal is to setup a isolated WIFI network where the dvices in different VLAN port can access the dvice connected to the AP in  different VLAN port.

thanks

Here's how to set 841N in AP mode. LAN IP address should be in the same subnet as the Internet router.

841N DHCP server should be disabled in AP mode.

When in AP mode 841N doesn't have gateway IP setting.

This setting is only active when you use 841N in wireless router mode.

So if you use the 841N in wireless router mode, set its gateway IP to be your Internet router LAN IP address (not the switch IP address) and test.

I would recommend to configure the 841N in AP mode though to avoid double NAT in your network.

I made it work with R4841 in AP mode but the LAN type to smart IP(DHCP). This give me access to the Internet wired or wireless (in the VLAN port). All my other devices connected to Internet router connect and reconnect fine. If I set up static IP, with a unique IP address for the AP (subnet same as Internet router) and the getway IP of the Internet router (connected to cable modem) 2 things happen: 1- The AP connects with NO internet access for any device. 2- My cell phone/laptops wifi works (connected to internet router) fine until I do disconnect/connect to Internet router and now it connects but no Internet router. So having the AP with Static IP (NO DHCP) causes the regular Internet WIFI to fail on a reconnection (if you don't try to reconnect access is fine). I verify the static IP is unique and in the subnet of the Internet router , The gateway is on the same as the Internet router . thanks
