Router in AP mode works wirelessly with notebook, but not with phones and tablets

Hi,

I have a TL-WR841ND router which I configured to work in AP mode. It works over Ethernet and with a notebook wirelessly, but not with any smartphones/tablets.

Can anybody help me why this may be?

Thanks

  @frocsog

If your router doesn't have an operation mode menu then you should use this guide - Case 2 to configure in AP mode.

If you used this guide for the purpose then try changing your main router DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 and test if that will make any difference.

In AP mode the 841ND should only relay DHCP and DNS requests from its wireless/wired clients to your main router - device behaviour should be the same regardless its type.

What do you mean by smartphones/tablets not working ? They don't have Internet access or they can't connect to the 841ND wi-fi ?

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

  @terziyski Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I have configured it according to Case 2 of the guide.

I won't change the main router's DNS because it's working fine with all other devices. In fact, I can't change it, because I don't have the permission to manage it. Besides, The TP-Link router is working fine with notebooks on WiFi, it's only phones and tablets it's not working with somehow.
