2.4 GHz active slows Ethernet speed
Simple configuration:
- Ethernet cable from Broadband modem to main Deco
- Ethernet cable from main deco to PC
- Two other Deco boxes servicing various wifi devices throughout house
"Test Internet Speed" (via the Deco app) shows Download approx. 50 Mbps
Speed test on Ethernet connected PC was showing approx. 17 Mbps
Speed test on wifi connected devices also showing approx. 17 Mbps
I decided to disable the 2.4 GHz on the WiFi settings, so it is forced to use 5 GHz.
Now the speed test on ALL devices, including the Ethernet connected PC, shows about 35 Mbps
While I am not particularly happy to lose 15 Mbps performance, I can perhaps understand that on the wifi network. I can even accept that using 2.4 Ghz will result in poorer wifi performance than only 5 GHz. BUT WHY is the Ethernet performance so poor, and WHY does the choice of 2.4 or 5 GHz affect the Ethernet performance?
I can also connect my desktop directly to the Broadband modem and get 50 Mbps, but then, of course, no Deco and no wifi.
Does anyone have any ideas?
