Model: Archer A2
Hardware Version: V20
Firmware Version: IDK

So I have just got this router to replace the ISP supplied one with the intention of improving my streaming experience. The streaming on the old router want too bad bit thought it would be good to upgrade to WiFi 6 and hopeflluimpriveclatenct. Unfortunately what I have found so far is the exact opposite, I'm getting massive Latency spikes in Virtual Desktop that make it almost unplayable (Up to 300ms). I am running this router as an access point off my main router, I'm getting a good signal (full 1200mbps) and router is in the same room, PC is hardwired using Gigabit ethernet, same as it was before. Now, I am aware from doing some research that some issues have been reported with these TP link AX routers, but I specifically chose this model as in some other threads I found people had suggested that this AX1800 with quad core CPU (hardware version 2.0) did not have the same issue. I have only just got the router and am now trying to decide tutubox whether to just send it back or try further troubleshooting steps. Has anyone here got the same router? Can you provide any tips? I already switched off Smart Connect which I heard can cause issues.

@jacktorres1

Hello, are you saying you are using Oculus Quest 2 with the Archer AX1800 and getting massive Latency spikes? Is the Archer AX1800 V1 or V2? You can check that by verifying the device bottom sticker, where are the model and version.

Meanwhile, please login to the web GUI of the AX1800 and confirm what are the wireless settings, try modifying the mode in the "Advanced" setup menu under "Wireless" -> "Wireless Settings" in the 5GHz section, changing it from the default setting "802.11a/n/ac/ax mixed" to "802.11a/n/ac mixed", then monitor again.
