Model: TL-MR100
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 210601 Rel.32393n

Hello,

Problem 1: Router does not update NO-IP DynDNS.

SIM Supplier: Vodafone PrePaid SIM, works in router, getting an IP-Address

Waiting up to one hour for an update without success.

Problem 2: Port-Forwarding (Virtual Servers) doesn't forward traffic

External listener port 8081

Internal IP set to host

Internal port is using the same port 8081

Connecting from the same network of the router it works.

Connecting from my other network it doesn't work.

Problem 3: Administration port doesn't allow connection to remote admin the router.

Using default settings doesn't allow me using the router from remote using port 80. All checkboxes marked ans saved.

Problem 4: Cannot change DNS-Servers. Whenever I change them to Google or another provider, I can save the changes but they will be switched back to the settings from the SIM provider.

Any ideas? I have read, that some SIM Provider have to allow network traffic ingoing to the network of the SIM?

If so, not in my case. When I run a Webserver on my mobile with that SIM and I connect from another mobile, I get a default website of the mobile webserver.

Thank you and regards

Michael

Hi,

Is the SIM card in that other mobile also using the Vodafone mobile network or is it another network?

It's Vodafone too.

I use kWs Android Webserver for that test. So Vodafone mobile to Vodafone mobile worked great.

Okay, in that case you should verify that Vodafone indeed assigns a public IPv4 address to your mobile Internet connection or if it's merely a private IPv4 address.

Nowadays, many of the mobile network providers in the world have so-called Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) implemented on their side, which means you are not getting a public IPv4 address assigned to your SIM card.

If that was the case, then you would not be able to easily solve Problem 2 and Problem 3, I am afraid.

You will know if Vodafone employs a NAT on their side if the Internet IP address falls into one of the following IP address ranges:

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
100.64.0.0 - 100.127.255.255
