Model: Archer C54
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.4 Build 200806 Rel.72905n(4555)

Hello.

I just bought this router, but I'm experiencing bandwidth problem (Note: I'm not experienced with networking). I've connected it to the modem and set it up in router mode, following the quick setup. For network type I used auto-detect, which resulted in dynamic IP connection. My ISP provides 300/30 mbps network, and that is what I get that when running speedtest with cable connection to the modem. Unfortunately connecting to the router yields max speed of 100mbps. I guess this happens because the connection between the router and the modem is capped at 100mbps:

Also in the network settings:

Assuming I'm doing something wrong, or am missing something.

So how am I supposed to get the gigabit wifi connection, advertised for this router? Any help is welcome.

Thank you for your time!

You're assuming right. Your connection is capped at 100 mbps by the link between the C54 and your modem.

Here's the C54 specs. Its LAN ports are 100 mbps capable hence the bandwidth limitation.

With this router speeds greater than 100 mbps can be achieved only between its wireless client devices.

@terziyski

Thank you for your answer. Just to be clear: With the topology I described in my home it's not possible to have wifi internet connections higher than 100 mbps with this router, since the connection to the modem is capped at 100mbps? If so, I'm considering returning this one and buying the C6 model.

@gutermeister

That's correct. Archer C6/A6 or C7/A7 would do the job.

@gutermeister
Technically, you will be able to have only over 100Mbps between wireless devices on the same network. Anything that goes over the cable will be capped at 100Mbps, due to the LAN and WAN ports being 100Mbps only.
