Accepted [Wi-Fi Routers] AP Mode supports Onemesh

Updated on Sep 2, 2024:
We're thrilled to announce the rollout of new official firmware rolling out for multiple routers, including the BE, AX, and AC series, which introduces EasyMesh in AP Mode as a Controller. Check the following thread for a list of the models that support this feature:
EasyMesh Is Available When Wi-Fi Routers Work in AP Mode as A Controller
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are some cases that customers have their main modem router acting as the gateway and DHCP server in the network, and thus they need to change the TP-Link router to work as an Access Point to avoid the double-NAT issue. However, some of them still request the Onemesh routers (TP-Link OneMesh Devices) to support building up an Onemesh system with the Onemesh extenders when working in Access Point mode.
Before requesting that, we hope you could have a brief understanding about the difference between Router mode and Access Mode by referring to the article below, some advanced features would not be supported in Access Point mode, which is also the case for Onemesh:
If you do purchase an Onemesh router and extender already, you will need to configure it in Router mode to build up the Onemesh system. For better performance, it is suggested to check with your modem router support that if you can turn it into bridge mode or pure modem, then configure the TP-Link router as the main router.
However, we still open our ears for the market and customers here that how many of you request the Onemesh router supporting Onemesh in AP mode, and all of your opinions will be passed to the relevant team to be considered.
Press the like button and/or leave your comments and opinions if you also request the same. You can also exchange or share your opinions on this feature here. Thanks!

I just solved the issue once and for all!
I purged all my TP Link devices, including Archer 90 and bought the Ubiquiti system. Guys, that not a different league, that a different planet of hardware and software stuff. Forget TP Link, the user and device support is total **** with this platform!
Will never buy or suggest to buy TP Link again.
Wasted money.

For other models that are not on the list, there is currently no firmware for them. It's suggested to keep an eye on the official firmware releases on the official website.

I have AX55 and was about to buy RE705X Extender that supports OneMesh and AP(because I don't have a decent wifi signal on my 2nd floor). Thank god I have visited this forum post and didn't burn my money. Just by visiting TPLink website, there is no single word that AP doesn't support OneMesh technology. Please TP Link make it work! Since a lot of us moved to work from home, extending our stable and efficient network connectivity through the whole house is a must. Please TP link make Extenders connect wired as an Access point to your OneMesh system!
Same here, but I have the AX5400 and three RE705X extenders.
I can see the EasyMesh option in the RE705X configuration, but I can't see anything related to mesh in the AX5400 controll panel.
Initially I assumed that everything is wokking as expected. Unfrotunatelly, it's not working!
It's annoying that the OneMesh/EasyMesh is not working in the AP mode selected for my AX5400. There is no any information or grayed out options related to the mesh in the configuration.
I belive that the AP mode is the most common.
I spent some time and lost my money for this configuration and now I realized that it's not working as expected. It's terrible especially during Wi-Fi Calling for smarthphones.
The AP is a must have, because I have some devices including my printer connected to the main router. The AX5400 works as AP together with RE705X.
My printer has to by available for any device in my network!
Please update the AX5400 to support mesh in the AP mode or give my money back or replace my AX5400 with the compatible one.

@Kevin_Z Hi, what about AX17? I just bought that router thinking it supports EasyMesh (even advert on the box says so), but it turned to be not true. :(
Is there any chance to have it supported?

Currently, only the listed models in the following thread support EasyMesh in AP Mode:

Archer AX17 is not on the list.
