Troubleshooting Zoom or Microsoft Teams frozen or hanging when connected to Deco

This Article applies to:
Several Deco models
Zoom/ Skype/ Microsoft Teams, and other Video Conference Platforms
Typical Problem Description:
1. After connecting to the Deco Wi-Fi, Zoom says that the signal is low. The video stutters and stops for long periods (sometimes more than 3 seconds).
2. During a Zoom meeting, the video stutters, pauses & audio gets delayed even though the wireless connection is pretty strong and wireless speed is fast.
Troubleshooting suggestions:
You may find similar feedback on other mesh systems when searching online, such as Google Nest Wi-Fi (click here to find details), and Netgear Orbi (check here).
If you, unfortunately, encounter a similar issue, there are some useful suggestions shared by our users, you could give them a go one at a time:
1. Turn off the Mesh Technology on the device.
2. Turn off the Fast Roaming and Beamforming on the Deco APP > More > Advanced.
3. Enable the QoS for live-streaming and put the device into high priority.
4. Set up the Deco as an Access Point if there is an additional wireless router: How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode?
5. Update the Deco firmware version to be the latest one per different models.
If the issue continues after applying the above suggestions, and the wireless adapters of the computers are Intel AX200/AX201/AX210/AX211, please install the following beta firmware to see whether it helped:
Note! Please be sure you have read the Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before proceeding.

@TP-Link I have the same issue with AX72 5400, can't use zoom, discord, teamviewer,MS teams. As soon as I start the apps it disconnects while I'm on wifi however there isn't an issue when I use cellular data. Nothing seems to fix, what's the issue?

@sphynxcats started happening to me as well. Microsoft Teams consistently brings down (crashes, fails) when on video calls. X55 Deco mesh network. Bought new in July, 2024. @TP-Link do I need to introduce you to Microsoft?

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.
Can I have the current firmware version of your Deco X55?
Are you able to consistently reproduce this issue?
By the way, have you tried the recommended suggestions in the first post?
Best regards.

@TP-Link I have a similar problem with my PX50 based mesh. Firmware 1.2.3 Build 20240724 Rel. 28307
I get connection issues in every Teams call. It drops out for 5-10 seconds with a connection error, then says it has low bandwidth and to expect sound problems. I would say it happens on average 5 times during a 1 hour Teams call. My PC is connected to a PX50 via Ethernet, that PX50 is connected to another one via Ethernet and that one is connected to the main unit wirelessly. This was an expensive purchase at £540 for 2 packs of 3 units, and has proven to be incredibly unreliable - basically not fit for purpose.

@CraigRX7 Yep that precisely the kind of behaviour I saw and continue to see.
Wasted countless hours with TP-Link support too, they told me to
- Apply firmware updates - did all those to no avail.
- change my network setup - so I changed that and the problem persisted
- replace my router - so i did that twice, problem persisted
- buy a new router (because the two I tried in point 2 above were under specc'd) - at which I stopped responding because they clearly dont know how to fix it.
I hope you have better luck than me.

Do your yourselves a favor and get an Eero system. I purchased the Eero Pro 6e from Amazon back in July of 2022 and zero issues. You’ll be glad you did.

@vinny.fernandez Thanks but that doesn't really help me, made the full investment in TP-Link (POE switch + 3 x POE Wall/Ceiling mounts + PoE Outdoor) when I recently completed our build.

@Riccid the solution I found was to connect each Deco through a cable. Unfortunately wireless mesh didn't work for me using zoom.
