Connecting sonoff to the deco network (x20)
I am having trouble to connect any sonoff smart plug or switch to the new deco x20 network setup.
The sonoff instructions states that you need to set an open Mac. What is this?
Also, any other possible solutions/methods to try?
Anyone can help please?

Hello, I have the same problem with sonoff devices. I tried all the suggestions in the thread, but none worked.
Do you have any recommendation?

What is really interesting is that old devices that also only have 2.4 GHz can have no problem and can log on to the network without any problems. only the sonoff devices do not.

Alright, that is crazy. I had the same problem with Deco XE75 and it took a lot of effort to connect.
What I did two times in a row to confirm it works is:
1. I've created a IoT Network (App -> More -> IoT Network)
- Name: uppercase/lowercase mix for the name (i.e. only letters)
- Security: WPA2
- Bands: 2.4Ghz Only
Nothing else on the router side, actually everything else is the default;
2. on the eWeLink side:
- Add device, scroll to the bottom, Compatible mode and wait
3. on the Sonoff 4ch Pro device, turn on the "Compatible pairing mode":
- Click and hold Channel 1 (R1) button for 5-ish seconds while you see the WIFI LED to repeat two short blinks and one long blink, then:
- Click and hold again the Channel 1 (R1) button for 5-ish seconds while you see the WIFI LED to blink fast (i.e. no longer a long blink in the mix)
IMPORTANT: to confirm that this actually works - if you open your WIFI settings in the phone/laptop then you'll see a new hotspot called ITEAD**** something name - if you don't see it, then you haven't done the step 3. correctly, i.e. your device is not in Compatible pairing mode and have to more carefully run that step! I.e. this part has nothing to do with your TP-Link router!
4. Go back in the eWeLink app and now click Next button (i.e. continue were we left in the step 2.)
There, you'll be asked to enter 2.4Ghz pairing WIFI hotspot (name and password) and continue to the next page.
IMPORTANT: that is NOT ITEAD**** hotspot claimed in some posts, that is your 2.4GHz WIFI hotspot (in my case is the new IoT WIFI network) that you are connected already on your phone.
5. After couple of seconds you're device will be found (i.e. in compatible mode the app will detect that the ITEAD**** hotspot is available) and will ask you to connect (i.e. currently you are connected to your 2.4Ghz WIFI hotspot) - the app will throw you in the system settings where you have to connect to that ITEAD**** hotsport, use the 12345678 password. Use the "back" button on your phone couple of times to go back to your eWeLink app. Once there the setup will continue (i.e. once connected to the ITEAD****, the app will read the device information and will send your 2.4GHz WIFI hotspot password).
Pretty much that is. Very, very confusing setup that I haven't expected.

Thanks for this procedure. Was the very easy way to connect one Sonoff Mini R2 to a D-Link DAP-1610 where the WiFi name was different than router WiFi name.

@KenBar I have jhad the same problem. I had a BT Wholehome wireless mesh and a number of Sonoff devices. The Sonoff devices were able to register no problem. I upgraded the old BT system to TPlink PX50s and although most of the Sonoff devices work, I cannot register / pair any devices have been "forgotten" or need to be changed. I have gone through the full process of creating a 2.4Ghz only IoT only network, and going through the Compatible mode pairing process and although the Ewelink app says the pairing process is complete, all the Sonoff devices end up back at the slow flashing state showing not connected. The App shows them as having been registered but show as offline. To prove that it is a problem with the Decos, I stood the BT mesh back up as a separate network (actually initially done to address the problem that I had with Sky Q regularly killing the Deco Mesh. By creating a separate mesh, hard wiring the Sky Q boxes and turing off the Sky Q wifi completely all these problems went away) However, I also found that the Sonoff devices will quite happily pair via the BT mesh, just not via the Deco mesh.
Current Setup
- Internet via Starlink in Router mode
- 5 Deco PX50 units running in AP mode serving all IT wifi requirements, main Deco plugged into Starlink router
- BT Wholehome mesh with one unit plugged into main Deco LAN port and 4 others next to Sky Q boxes hard-wired into them.
I am running Decos in AP mode and Starlink in Router mode as this was one of the things that I tried whilst trying to fix the Sky Q problem, as opposed to Starlink in Bypass and Deco in Router mode. I may switch back but at the moment I'm wary on the reliability of the Decos and use the direct wifi to the Stalink router as a fallback mechanism for work work if the Deco network starts playing up .If I switch the Starlink router into Bypass mode I am totall dependent on the Decos for any connectivity
