Hello everyone. Yesterday I bought this router to extend my wifi signar from my cable router. Now I know that it is possible using the WR841ND as an wifi extender using third-party firmwares but what I like to know is if there is any way to make the router work like that but using the original firmware. I followed a guide that explained how to do it but the only thing I can do is extend the wireless signal without the internet acess. Any help is appreciated.

The TL-WR841ND can work as wifi extender through WDS function but this function requires the original router also supports WDS function and use the same WDS function technology. Hope this instruction give you some idea: http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=227

Ok looks simply enough. But do I still have to connect the WR841ND to the main router via cable or can I have it in other room just
to expand the signal.

Make cable connection between routers. You can use WAN port in WR841ND configured like Dynamic IP.

I already did this but the results are not very good when compared to the wifi signal of my main router. I thought that the signal would get much bigger in the other rooms but it is still somewhat weak.

If it's possible you have to lay cable from main router to another room and there connect tp-link.You'll have strong signal in another localisation.

Not working

That is not working for me at all. The manual says that WDS is supposed to work without cables. I have a parent TL-WR740N connected to the modem
distributing signal and a brand new child WR841ND trying to connect to the parent. Both support WDS. I have disabled DHCP in the child router.
I can connect to it with my PC, but I can't navigate or ping anything. I am completely stumped.
