Deco X20 - problem with 2,4 ghz
Hi
I just set up my deco X20 network and I have a 2.4 ghz problem.
My main network is set up with mesh 2.4 ghz and 5ghz and it works ok. But I need a network only with 2.4 ghz, as I have several devices that only run on 2.4 ghz network.
I have tried to make a guest network with only 2.4 ghz and it does not work at all. If I'm lucky I might be able to get a speed of 0.50 mbps. but sometimes I can do a speed test and then it shows 70 mbps.
I have a 500/500 connection and on my main network I hit 350-400 mbps on speed test.
why do I have such a bad connection at 2.4 ghz?
ps. i have tried running only 2.4 ghz on my main network and it gives the same result as on the guest network.

@TP-Link I have the same issue, the 2,4 GHz don't pass 3 mb as on the 5 GHz I'm getting 515mb ...
If I turn the guess network on with 2.4 GHz I'm getting 40 to 50 mb. so the problem is only on the main network.

@Steenberg I am having this exact same issue. Did you get resolution to this?

@DWie Hi, sorry for the delay.
were you still having the same issue on Deco M5 "cant get the 2,4ghz to work at all. Not present when scanning wifi with in-app."?
How long have you had the Deco and have you tried a factory reset before?
Thank you.
Eransolin for the 2.4ghz issue on Deco X90, may I know how many online 2.4ghz devices that are connected to Deco X90?
Would the main 2.4ghz network stay below 3m/s all the time? or a reboot could restore the speed later?

Hi, welcome to the community.
I see your model is Deco X25 under your TP-Link ID and can I have more details about the 2.4ghz issue on the X25?
Thank you very much.

@Eransolin and me too on m5... really annoying. I cant get the 2,4ghz to work at all. Not present when scanning wifi with in-app.
I have the same problem with my 2 M4R (firmware 1.5.4 Build 20220113 Rel. 38349). Actually, I was having the problem before the firmware update made today:
- some months ago, the 2.4 GHz devices had issues "loosing internet". I always blamed the devices, reset it and, eventually, the connection would restore.
- since yesterday all my lamp bulbs went offline. Resetting the Deco made some, not all of them, connect again.
- Now, they are all offline again and I noticed there is no 2.4 GHz network at all. Letting only 2.4 GHz active disconnected ALL my devices. Enabling guest only 2.4 or both, no 2.4 signal detected on 3 different scan tools.
- Resetting Deco sometimes, for a moment, the light bulbs appears connected and, then, disappear.

Having the same issue with my deco m4.
All my bulbs and smart plugs connected to the 2.4ghz network are now disconnected... Did you find any solution for this ?

Hi, Welcome to the community.
Since the original post is about Deco X20, compared with Deco M4, it is a wifi 6 router with WPA and 802.11ax.
It would be quite different from m4.
Could you mind starting a new thread about your current issue with smart home devices on Deco M4?
What are the model numbers of these smart home devices?
After they are disconnected from M4, will restarting the devices themselves or Deco be able to restore the internet connection?
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Hi, Thank you very much for your time and patience.
May I know how long have you had Deco M4? Did this issue start just after the 1.5.4 upgrade?
It seemed like there is something with the 2.4ghz radio of your Deco, more like a hardware issue.
Would the 2.4ghz band disappear most of the time when smart home devices were disconnected, but after resetting(factory reset or just power cycle?), the 2.4ghz radio broadcasted again?
Best regards.

Same problems here with 2.4 GHZ on X20 since 3 or 4 weeks now.
- Devices get disconnected
- Tried with laptop and mobile, sometimes it won't allow you to connect to the WIFI
- These issues don't occur with the router of my provider.
Tried:
Factory reset device
Using another deco as main device
Using a single DECO
Disabled Roaming
Disabled Beamforcing
Ran both in AP
Ran in Router modus
Changed network IP
Another strange behavior of X20 in Router mode is when I use 192.168.1.X/24, 192.168.2.X/24 or 192.168.3.x/24 as internal network. Client get's proper DHCP lease and I can add the IP as reserveration (example 192.168.1.5), but when reopening the reservation in app, the address changed to 192.168.0.5. How is this posssible?
After 3-4 weeks spending hours daily, figuring out what happens, I'm done further troubleshooting.
Will re-enable 2.4GHZ on router provider.
Will use AP mode instead of Router mode (due to reservation issues)
Will save money to buy another brand
