Model: Archer C50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 1.0 v0045.0 Build 150325 Rel.43331n

Hello,

I have configured my AC50 as accesspoint connected with my ISP router through CAT6 cable.

Everything works fine except the download speed is reduced by factor 3 compared to download speed (internet ISP) from the ISP router.

With both LAN connection or WLAN from the Accesspoint I only achieve 50 mbps.

While connecting to the ISP router I achieve 250 mbps.

I connected the LAN cable that goes into the AC50 (configured as access point) directly into a laptop and did a speedtest where it achieved 250 mbps download.

Based on this I can only conclude there is some issues in the AC50 that slows down the internet download speed with more than a factor 3.

Does anybody have an advice on how to get the same download (ISP) speed as I am achieving while being connected with the ISP router?

Thank you in advance,

Thijs

Hey Are you sure you are referring to the AC50? This is a wireless controller and not an AP.

@ThijsvEijk

Ah that makes more sense :)

The Archer C50 has a 100mbps WAN port and im going to guess your ISP router has a 1000mbps port.     Is the WAN speed greater than 100mbps?  Hopefully i read that correctly and you indicate its 250?

In that case the 100mbps port on your AC50 is going to be a bottleneck for you, it would be better to upgrade to something with a 1GB port.... if its just for wifi connectivity I would look at a standalone AP225, should give you better performance overall.

@Philbert

yes my ISP router is 1000 mps.

I read in the specs that the Archer c50 has  even a 300 mbit/s speed on 2.4ghz and 867 mbit/s on 5ghz Wlan.

But the lan is as you mentioned 100 mbps.

Thanks for the clarification. Its indeed the lan port ..
