Setting the 2.4 and 5Ghz SSID to the same value: Smart Connect?
Hi all,
moved me Deco system to my business location and wanted to reuse my Archer C59 at home.
Works fine, used to have 2 Wi-Fi networks for private use (Home1 and Home2) and 1 for Public use (Public1).
I noticed that the Public has opened automatically on 2,4 and 5 Ghz, although I don't think the router has Smart Connect (not in the app anyway). However, I tested to put Home1 now as SSID on both bands and it seems to work... probably not "Smart"?
Is this a good idea or should I avoid it?

Your router does have Smart Connect available via WebGUI. If I wanted the SSIDs on both bands to be the same, I would use Smart Connect on, rather than using the same name for SSIDs on both bands with Smart Connect off.
"Smart Connect allows each of the router's wireless bands to use the same wireless settings. The router can balance network demand and assign devices to the optimum band."

@Ivaylo I've searche every page on the WebUI, couldn't find Smart Connect, not in Basic or Advanced mode...

What's your FW version ? Are you sure that your HW version is 4 ?

You can check that from WebGUI (Advanced=>System Tools=>Firmware Upgrade):
For example:
If it's v1 then the Smart Connect feature is not implemented.
In that case you can have both bands with the same name, but I would recommend different names for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
That's just to determine which band the particular device is connected to, nothing else.
