deco p9 and Virgin hub2 compatibility

Got my Deco P9 a while ago
it is paired with a Virgin Hub 2 which is running in modem mode
i'm having alot of trouble with signal dropouts and devices unable to connect to network
Is this an compatibility issue and would switching to an access point systerm help in any way???
