Hi, I require a functioning dyndns from a router.

I'd like to use tplinkdns.com as it is a free service from TP Link and there's no other free option.

tplinkdns.com seems to be broken unfortunately:

tplinkdns.com is served by ns1 and ns2.tplinkdns.com

$ dig ns1.tplinkdns.com +besteffort +trace

couldn't get address for 'ns1.tplinkdns.com': not found
couldn't get address for 'ns2.tplinkdns.com': not found
dig: couldn't get address for 'ns1.tplinkdns.com': no more

resolving seems to be broken for ns1 and ns2, thus, I can't resolve the assigned dyndns name.

TPlink: Can you please have a look at this?

Thanks

@C4SG

Hello, thanks for asking.

Please refer to the guide below to check the DDNS settings on the MR6400 again, ensure the connection status is RUN:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1682/

BTW, it seems the DDNS can resolve your WAN IP, please check if this is your WAN IP on the MR6400:

@Kevin_Z ,

the problem is not with the registration of the name at the name server but with the name server configuration itself. You seem to have been lucky when taking the screenshot in the sense that your name server can reach a working cached copy of the record. What you're showing there is the IP of one of the name servers, something that I can't resolve, thus, my registered name can't be resolved as well.

To remove this effect, please add "+trace". I've tried this from multiple location and ISPs in Germany, without success.

At times, I can see error messages like

;; Warning: Message parser reports malformed message packet.
;; expected opt record in response
