Hi,

My ISP sent me an Archer VR400, and it works brilliantly.

I also have a TL-SG1024D unmanaged switch which works well.

But I can't seem to get the two to work together. When I connect the router to the switch, nothing happens. The light on the switch stays off. I've tried connecting to all 4 ports of the router, but none work. I've tried different cables, different ports on the switch, but nothing.

As I said, each works on it's own, but not together.

Does anyone know why, or what I can try to get it working?

Hi,

I really appreciate you taking the time to look at this, but it seems that the problem has sorted itself out.

After having the switch disconnected for a day or two, when I reconnected everything today, it all appears fine.

I apologise for taking up your time.

That sounds weird. How long is the cable between the VR400 and the SG1024D? Is the VR400 working as a modem router? When your computer is connected to its LAN, what is the IP address you can get?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I've tried various cables, different lengths.

Yes, the VR400 is working as a modem router. It works perfectly with wireless devices, and with devices plugged striaght into it.

I've just got my laptop, turned off the wireless, and connected it to the switch via ethernet. Nothing else is plugged into the switch at the moment.

When I run ipconfig, the IP for the ethernet is 169.254.18.13, with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0
