Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi good people,

I live in a shared house with the virgin media SH3 ISP modem/router provided hub and on the superfast fibre connection.

There are 4 of us here each with a multitude of consoles, devices,mobiles etc etc each.

to cut a long story short due to slow connections and 4 gaming consoles on the go at various times 3 of the guys have bought wifi routers and just connected them directly to the VM sh3 via ethernet and just set them up with their own passwords well tonight everything went down we are having speed issues and devices not working

i understand the VM hub has to be switched to modem only

can someone please either point me in the direction of instructions for a network newbie or give me the best way to set up and configure each rooms own ethernet connected secure network that all in turn connect and receive the VM sh 3 outgoing internet connection

hope someone ca help

i have the archer c6 1200 router one of the others has a tenda router and the other has a d link the 4th has no router but connects via a powerline plug

many thanks for taking the time to reply

@Jarrmar

Hello, thanks for asking.

As per your description, it is suggested to configure the VM in modem router mode and leave it at the gateway, then change all the three routers into access point mode to share the VM internet but create three separate Wi-Fi networks in each room.

You may refer to the below instructions to configure the Archer C6 into an access point:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/417/

I hope this helps.
