Firmware Version: TP-Link 802.11ac Network adapter

Hi,

I built my first PC on the 5/9/20 using new components, including a new T6E ac1300 archer WiFi PCI-E card, so that my PC could connect to the WiFi. After downloading the latest driver for this card, it could connect to my home network, however, using internet speed tests, it frequently only hits 25 Mbps max on the download, and 13Mbps on the upload, usually lower (on the google internet speed test). Sometimes it gets stuck without connecting to the internet and sometimes it only has 0.1 Mbps download and 0Mbps upload. These speeds are appalling as all other devices in the same location get 50Mbps+ on the download. I reckon it is something to do with the fact that the card only connects to the WiFi on the 2.4 GHz band, (it only uses the slower 802.11g/b instead of using the faster 802.11 ac) but I cannot get it to connect on the 5GHz band.

I have downloaded the latest drivers for my motherboard.

Please assist me, it will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Dan.

@Kathy_Z

Thank you for the fast reply.

My system info:

OS: Windows 10 Home + 64-bit

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X

Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX

I am getting faster speeds now in comparison with yesterday for some reason, as they are hanging at about 35 Mbps on the download and 13 Mbps on the upload, according to Google's internet speed test. However, this is slower than my laptop in the same location as my PC, which stands at around 45 Mbps on the download. The other drivers had no change on speed when used, after installing them as per the guide and then restarting my computer. I'm not sure how else I can make it reach the speed of my other devices, but it may have something to do with the fact that, although I have set the band preference to 802.11a (there is no ac option), it still uses 802.11n, leaving the PC on 2.4 GHz band.

If you need any other information please let me know.

Thank you once again for your assistance thus far,

Dan.
