Archer MR600(EU) V1 - BETA Firmware - Allowing selection of 4G+bands for Archer MR600 manually
Hi all,
Following the long thread on the same subject discssing the BETA FW, as I said I would, TPLink have given me permission to share the FW download llink.
From TPLink - We recently released a beta firmware for Archer MR600(EU) V1 which can allow us to select 4G+bands for Archer MR600 manually.
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202004/20200420/Archer_MR600v1_1.1.0_0.9.1_[200417-rel75138]_up_boot_2020-04-20_08.44.31.zip
For Archer MR600, if you want to use its 4G+network, your SIM card should support the CA bands group Archer MR400 supports. Please check the attached picture and check if your SIM card supports the band groups on the list or not.
They asked me to state that, this BETA FW is for the Archer MR600(EU) V1 ONLY!
Neither TPLink nor me take any respnsbility if you flash a none-EU router.

@Abhi093 Hi, Please see the below chart I have made after testing with JIO, AIrtel & Vodafone SIM card in Mumbai-Bhayandar area. A list of supported 2XCA band information is taken from the first page of this post. Hope this helps. TP-Link has to implement 40A+40A immediately so that we can get great speed with JIO and Airtel provider which is also working in all Metros. Hope the below test results helps.

@Rajiv.R Hello ,
Are you in touch with any developer in Tp-Link . We need all misisng CA in MR600 need to be added by the TP-Link need to be added by them at the earliest specifically 40A+40A as it is supporte din many places in India.
Cheers,
Venky

@cbzvenki Hi, I have already sent an email to TP-Link support to enable the 40A+40A CA Combinations immediately which is working well with JIO and Airtel on so many entry level phones. Also the feedback is taken by @Sunshine in the below post https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/219080?replyId=475550
Lets wait for the next General firmaware update with atleast 40A+40A support with band selection feature.

Hi Rajiv,
Are you using the stock antenna or External ( Single or MIMO) atenna with MR600 ? How is the performance I have raised a query below regarding the signal reception and 40A+40A.

@Abhi093 Hi Abhi, I am using my MR-600 without any externally added antenna with JIO sim card which signal strength is good on all the bands 1,3,5,40. JIO BTS tower is nearby my home at a 150-meter distance.
But when using with Airtel SIM card, I got a low signal on band 40 which is showing 75% but other airtel bands I have a good signal strength on bands 1,3 & 8.
For Airtel, I am using 2 directional LPDA antenna which gives me full signal strength and I am getting almost 60 to 70 mbps speed with Airtel 3A+40A Combination.
I am using the below Antena for Airtel. But the same is not working for JIO because the antenna is an LPDA directional model and facing towards Airtel BTS tower which distance is approx 400 meter. But the JIO BTS is in the opposite direction, so for JIO, I am using the default 2 detachable omnidirectional antenna.

Generally, if a BTS tower propagating RF signals on all the bands like Band 8, Band 3 and Band 40, then you will get less signal on band 40 from a far end which is operating on 2300 Mhz frequency which wavelength is smaller than the other bands and the signal will not propagate too far. but the band 40 has more channel bandwidth. so, band 40 can deliver the best download speed compared to band 8 900 Mhz or band 3 1800 Mhz. So, This is the RF technology drawback.
So, you will get more signal strength when you use band 8 or band 3 from the same BTS tower but those bands have low bandwidth channel and you will get lower download speed. However, MIMO will take place to speed up the download speeds. MR600 does not have MIMO support on the inbuilt 4G modem.
All the flagship high-end mobile devices such as Samsung Galaxy S7, S8, S9, S10, Oneplus 7, 8 series supports 2X2 & 4X4 MIMO on the 4G bands. But still Airtel,JIO and Vodafone have not enabled full 4X4 MIMO on all the BTS towers, and also nowadays JIO is capping the bandwidth by maximum 100 mbps. Airtel disabled 4X4 MIMO on Band 40 to save their bandwidth.
Finally I would say, there are various dependent parameters to get the CA works with full speed, like 4G router/Modem CA combination support with BTS tower CA combination with Signal strength with channel bandwidth and also finally mobile provider must support CA combinations without capping to MIMO support.
Hope this helps.

Hi Rajiv, that helps.. How have you mounted the two LPDAs ? Can you post a picture please..

Hi Rajiv,
I am not sure if MR600 uses Qualcomm X12 LTE Modem. But I have read it on technical pages on google and also in one thread on this community. If it uses Qualcomm X12 LTE Modem, then it should support MIMO. This what the official page Qualcomm page says.

Hello ,
Yes, They are using the X12 modem from qualcomm . Refer the digitin post.I have also installed the 2 LPDA 12dbi antenna in the roof and connected to the router. without the antenna i have no signle at my home with extenral antenna I am getting 90% of the time 100% single and rarely goes to 75% singal. I am getting the speed from 25 Mbps to 50 Mbps download and around 4 to 9 mbps upload speed. The main thing which I have achive with this router is excellet SNR vlaue ( around -15 to -24 dbi) heps 3 people to attend the zoom/teams/avaya spaces calls withou very rare drop outs. If they fix the 40A-40A CA then i should be able to get more than 80 Mbps speed . I am hoping they release the firmware with that support .

Thanks for replying. Would you please post an image of how you have mounted it.?? I would like to understand is it +- 45 degree mount in MIMO or any other way facing the tower .. I have two LPDA antennnas having gain 12 dbi and 9 dbi respectively. I will mount them tomorrow...
