Archer MR600(EU) V1 - BETA Firmware - Allowing selection of 4G+bands for Archer MR600 manually
Hi all,
Following the long thread on the same subject discssing the BETA FW, as I said I would, TPLink have given me permission to share the FW download llink.
From TPLink - We recently released a beta firmware for Archer MR600(EU) V1 which can allow us to select 4G+bands for Archer MR600 manually.
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202004/20200420/Archer_MR600v1_1.1.0_0.9.1_[200417-rel75138]_up_boot_2020-04-20_08.44.31.zip
For Archer MR600, if you want to use its 4G+network, your SIM card should support the CA bands group Archer MR400 supports. Please check the attached picture and check if your SIM card supports the band groups on the list or not.
They asked me to state that, this BETA FW is for the Archer MR600(EU) V1 ONLY!
Neither TPLink nor me take any respnsbility if you flash a none-EU router.

I wanted to try the firmware to do change the Bands.
I have "TL-MR6400 v4 00000001" and when trying to upgrade I got "Error code: 4503 The uploaded file was not accepted."
So should I be hopeless?

Oh you are right! My router model has extra cursed 4! No discussions for my Router model for band changing.
And here is my discussion with tp-link chat!
Me: My 4G operator suggested to switch to 2600 band for better service, however I can not switch to the band based on the functions in the admin panel. How to do that?
Operator: sorry, what band?
Dear LORD please save me!!!

From support, I got the beta firmware for another model (MR4600) and after updating it gives me options for selecting bands (1 to 40).
Does the reference list in this thread for bands apply to my router model "MR4600" you guess? Otherwise, I have to test them for all to guess which one is 2600MHZ or at least a better band!

You can find each band and its associated frequency here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTE_frequency_bands
2600 MHz is probably band 7. There are other bands that use this frequency but I doubt it will be another band than 7. Now band 7 will have a harder time penetrating buildings (The higher the frequency, the less it can penetrate buildings), so it may or may not be the best one for you. The best would be to find out which bands your carrier transmits at, and test to see which ones work best for you.

@AHK hi mate who did you exactly email for a beta firmware? Would love to see if they have a beta firmware for MR200 as it just doesn't want to connect 2100 frequency.

@benparker I made my concern in the "Live chat support" (https://livechat.tp-link.com/fi/routers/) and they delivered the firmware as a downloadable file there for me. If you give references to these community posts by dropping the discussions links, you will have easier time making them understand what your needs are. Otherwise, the classic support chat strategy tries to convince you they can't fo much and you don't need to change your settings.

Does anybody else have an issue where it's switching bands randomly on the beta software?
I have mine set to Band A (7) and Band B (3) which gives good speeds at 75% signal but throughout the day it's switching to Band A (3) Band B (3) at 50% signal and speeds drop dramatically.

Hello everyone,
here my points:
- as mentioned from @Nicola_IT before, it would be great to have the ability to identify quickly which cell/eNodeB the router is conncted to, this would allow me to check which bands the tower supports and easily set them on my router.
- about the aggregation, I don't know if there is a way to force the bands/frequencies order, because even if I set the bandA and the bandB in a preferred order he starts as it is and then somehow sometime he swaps again giving the weakest band as first in the order, which I obviously don't want. So when this happen I'm forced to set a single band because the best one.
Apart from this it is working good and giving me better performance in terms of speed. So waiting for stable version.
Cheers,
Pa
