Model: Archer VR900
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

My Bipac blew up in a recent power cut and I need a new modem/router. The AC1900 and AC2100 have both been recommended to me, I don't understand why they seem to have model numbers and Also Archer nnn designations, sorry.

I am in the UK and have fibre broadband which is currently fed to an OpenReach modem them my ISP supplied router.

I would like to feed the Openreach input straight in to the new modem/router but must be sure it will take a feed from the Openreach box so I can do awy with the Openreach modem.

Will the AC1900 and AC2100 both do this? The inputs just says "DSL" and I don't know if it expects an ADSL signal or a fibre signal.

Thank you.

@Jeff-Gaines AC1900 or AC1200 or whatever are not model numbers but the WiFi type (AC for WiFi 5, AX for WiFi 6) and the combined wireless link speed (1200 Mbps for instance, counting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz links).

The model is the Archer xxx part. If you don't need DSL don't buy a DSL router, just a regular one with Ethernet WAN port.

@Jeff-Gaines No problem, regarding which one to buy I'm not really sure if a regular router would be enough.

If you want to replace your modem/router you'll need a device with the same input (usually Ethernet WAN if there's an external ONT for fibre, or fibre itself in all in one devices, or landline if it's DSL...)
