Replacing Maxis Technicolor TG784n V3 with TP-LINK Archer VR600V AC1600
Hi, I am replacing my current Maxis Home Fibre router to TP-LINK Archer VR600V AC1600 and would like to know what are the setup steps that I need to follow? It seems there is no manual for this. My current Maxis router is Technicolor TG784n V3 flat type without antenna.
Could anyone provide me some guidance on setting up this?
Thank you in advance!
Ivan

Hi Ivan,
With this connection, you need to switch the working mode on the VR600v to the wireless router mode. You may refer to the instruction below to do the settings.
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1731/
If you still can't set it up, please confirm the username& password and VLAN ID with your ISP.
Good day.

Hello Ivan, you need connect the internet source to the Archer VR600 first, and then log into the web UI and go to quick setup to configure it.
The internet connection type, username and password are necessary, they are given by ISP, and you can go to next till you finish the configuration.
Note: Some ISPs ask to enable IPTV and enter relatively VLAN ID to make internet work, you can confirm it with ISP.
If it does not work, please tell me how do you connect the ISP to the VR600, by wired cable or DSL line, And the screenshots of the status page and internet page.
Good day.

@Kevin_Z Hi Kevin, thanks for replying my message.
I did use the TP Link Quick Setup for my setup. But I face problem when reached to Testing stage where a Fail status showed on the setup process.
My connection of the cable are as below:
Before
- TM fibre modem LAN port no.3 (default) to Maxis Technicolor TG784n v3 WAN port (red)
- Internet or WiFi everything working fine just that is slow
After
- TM fibre modem LAN port no.3 (default) to TP-Link Archer VR600V port no.4 (according to the manual is stated WAN port)
- Run quick setup from the configuration page after connected via TP-Link SSID WiFi
- The setup stopped at Testing stage with Fail status
- No internet connection
I have no idea are there anything that I missed during the setup process?

@Stella.Q Thx Stella, your suggestion worked but needed to enalble the IP V6. Now I have another problem that I need to solve. The VoIP phone. Is not working at all. With tone but I can't dial in any numbers. Any way I can get this phone working? I bought this model is because it comes with VoIP phone ports.
Thank you!

@Stella.Q Hi Stella, tried the steps you provided and it doesn't work. I called up TP Link support and they said TP Link does not support Maxis Fibre VoIP service. Anyway to get it working? I need the phone function for my out going call but now either I use back my Maxis router with the VoIP function or TP Link without the VoIP.

It is suggested you contact Maxis to confirm whether you can use third-party modems on the VOIP service, they may have some restrictions.
