Hi all,

I have recently bought the wdr 4300, for home usage.

I have three linux laptops, plus a wd tv live 1080p.

The laptops detect the 2.4Ghz band without issues, and the wd tv live was able to connect to the same
band, but with the last the connection works rather erratically, even when it is at about 3 mts from the router,
with no objects between them.

Now, I am unable to detect the 5Ghz band, either from the laptops or from the wdtv.

I have no idea how to check if the router is properly working also in the 5 Ghz band.
I am not sure if the laptops can see this band, because they have the AR9285 wireless chip,
which I don't know if is 5Ghz compatible.

But the wdtv should be able to see this band; I've bought this router to be able to watch netflix without issues,
and I am having the same problems that I had with my old 54M router!!!

My question would be then, what can I do to check if the router is working properly, and
if there is a way to force the laptops to detect the 5 Ghz band.

Any hint will be very appreciated.

Best regards,

F. Zyserman

Check the lights on the router. 5G wifi LED light should be flashing. I do not think your laptop wireless card is compatible with 5G band. Another way is find another device that can work on 5g band to give a try
